Tim Velinmanjaro

Team Velinmanjaro is a group of friends who live in Porthcawl and most are members of Newton Lifeguard club. Over the past few years we have taken part in several challenges with the aim to raise money for local charities, which include half marathons, sprint triathlons and most recently, the Three Peaks Challenge, which raised over £1500 for Bridgend Alzheimer's Society.

With thoughts for our next challenge, several of the group have been directly affected by the devastating effects of cancer, so we have decided to raise money for 'Velindre Cancer Centre'. We are aiming to raise £20,000 by 2012. The main fundraising event will be a self funded climb up Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania at the end of August 2012.

Over the next two years we will be organizing several fundraising events and also looking for sponsorship for the main event. All monies raised will be collected and handed to Velindre after the Kilimanjaro climb. We will be contacting the local press and asking them to mention all those who have been generous enough to donate to this worthy cause.
